ABSTRACT:
Internet security has been a top priority for corporate Internet Technology (IT) departments for many years. This is especially true for businesses that deal with private consumer financial data because of the potential for hackers to profit hugely from infiltrating and compromising their computer systems. This new and rapidly growing wave of "cyber crime" constitutes what we call "Crime 2.0." It is all about surreptitiously stealing vast amounts of money from unsuspecting targets by gaining access to credit card information, bank accounts, or other financial data. Even organized crime, "the Mob," has gotten involved in this underworld enterprise due to the possibility of substantial profits.

This paper analyzes cyber crime from several perspectives and proposes ways to guard against it. In particular, it discusses the nature of Crime 2.0 attacks from both the user's and the criminal's points of view. It also discusses the ways in which Juniper solutions can help to ensure that businesses are adequately protected from cyber threats.
