If we are to keep long term data management costs down while facilitating ease of data management, recovery, accessibility and data flexibility, then a unified data management strategy is essential. The good news is that there are a few purpose-built solutions and integrated technologies that provide these capabilities today. One thing is clear though. In order to provide the data flexibility and consolidation required for this new era, solutions need to be heterogeneous in terms of delivering storage savings.
